- Always verify that the pressure cooker is tightly sealed before placing it on a heat source. Never force the lid open when the cooker is pressurized. Wait for the pressure indicator to drop completely before opening.
- Pour a minimum of 2 quarts of liquid into the pressure cooker. For foods that expand during cooking; such as rice or dried vegetables; do not fill the unit beyond one-third of its capacity to avoid overfilling and clogging the vent.
- Do not cook foods that foam or froth; such as applesauce; cereals; or pasta; in your pressure cooker; as they may clog the pressure release device and pose a safety hazard.
- Check the pressure release devices for clogging before each use. Ensure the safety valve is clean and mobile; and that the operating valve is properly positioned. Once done cooking; allow it to cool gradually for safety.
- For the Pressure Cooker & Lid: After each use; wash the pressure cooker and lid with warm; soapy water using a soft sponge. Avoid using bleach or any chlorine-based cleaning products. Clean the lid gasket separately and check the operating valve and steam release outlet for blockages.
- For the Safety Valve & Pressure Gauge: Clean the safety valve; gently pass it under running water; ensuring it moves freely by pressing with a cotton swab. For the pressure gauge; use a dry; clean cloth to wipe it; avoiding water or solvents. Never remove the gauge or submerge it in water or the dishwasher. Regularly check the valve and safety components to ensure proper functionality.
