FAQ

• Remove the handle during cooking when it is not required to prevent it from overheating and ensure its durability.
• Overheating the handle can damage or break it. The handle may no longer function correctly, and the pan could fall, posing a burn risk. If you notice any heat damage to the handle, stop using it and replace it with a new one.
• Wash the handle by hand.

Caution: Never press on the unlocking buttons while handling the pan. Keep the lever closed with your fingers. Refer to the user guide.

The upper temperature limit of the silicon parts is 480°F, so it can be used for cooking. However, if it comes into contact with direct flame due to not being flush on the pot, the silicon may change color, become deformed, or the glass may crack.

It is recommended to remove the handle during cooking when it is not required to prevent it from overheating and ensure its durability.

Only frying pans, saucepans or saute pans from the Ingenio range can go in the oven, thanks to their detachable handles (ensure that the detachable handle is removed). Utensils should never be used in a microwave or convection oven.

For frying pans: between 285°F and 380°F.
This is the optimum temperature for frying and searing food. This indication helps you cook healthier and at an ideal temperature.

• Use plastic or wooden utensils. With some ranges, certain metal utensils can be used—except knives and whisks (refer to the product packaging or instructions).
• Avoid cutting directly in the pans.
• Do not gouge the non-stick surface. Slight surface marks or abrasions are normal and do not affect performance.
• Do not let pans boil dry or leave empty pans on a heated burner after cooking.
• Always select the proper electric burner size or adjust the gas flame to touch only the pan bottom.
• Never leave pans unattended while cooking.
• Let pans cool before cleaning.
• Before first use, wash in hot water with dish soap, dry, then rub a small amount of cooking oil into the non-stick coating. Remove any excess oil.
• Wash and dry your cookware after each use.

A pan can warp under thermal shock (e.g., overheated when empty, or contact with cold water or surfaces).
Let the pan cool to room temperature before cleaning.
A warped pan will give poor cooking results.

Pans should NEVER be used in a microwave oven.

You should refer to the recommendations for use indicated on the packaging or in the instructions included with the product.
Depending on the range, most metal utensils can be used except knives, forks and whisks. However, care should be exercised when using any metal utensil. Avoid using sharp edged utensils and avoid cutting directly in the pan. Do not stab or gouge the non-stick surface.br>
To extend the life of your cookware, we recommend using plastic or wooden utensils instead of metal.

No. Cooking at high temperatures does not significantly reduce cooking time and does not improve food quality. In fact, it may damage the non-stick coating. Cooking at medium temperatures is highly recommended.

To extend the life of the non-stick coating, use a small amount of oil when stir-frying or grilling. Oil is not needed when boiling or stewing.

Non-stick cookware:
Non-stick cookware is specially designed to prevent food from sticking, but it must be properly maintained.

Here are some tips:
•Non-stick utensils are specially designed so that food does not stick. However, the pan or pot has to be properly maintained.
•For that purpose, please observe the following tips: slightly oil the pan before first use and then wash and dry it, repeat the process from time to time if you wash the pan regularly in the dishwasher.
•It is also necessary to avoid overheating and scratches, in particular due to use of metal accessories (spatulas, ladles) and/or due to cleaning with a scouring sponge.

Stainless Steel Cookware:
Here are some tips:
•A preheated pan and lower flames are the keys to stick-free stainless steel cooking. Preheat your pan on low or medium heat for one to two minutes. You can test to see if your pan is ready by dropping a few drops of water on the pan and seeing if the water bounces around. After properly preheated, pour in 2-3 teaspoons of oil or enough to cover the bottom of the cooking surface. Before adding food, it's best to pat it dry of any moisture and allow it to reach room temperature. When adding food, make sure that there is an even sizzling sound when your food touches the pan. This indicates that your food is cooking on contact and creating a natural barrier to prevent sticking. Allow food to cook without disturbing it until the correct doneness is achieved. The natural sugars in your food caramelize on the cooked surface, developing great flavors and lifting your food off of the cooking surface naturally. If the sound that food makes on initial contact with the pan is more of a crackle than a sizzle, your heat is too high, and sticking may occur.
•NEVER USE non-stick cooking sprays.

Maintenance and cleaning

Over time, this may affect the efficiency of the open/close mechanism.

Non-stick cookware:
Cleaning by hand in soapy water is sufficient.

The pan must be cleaned after each use to remove the thin film of grease that can remain on the surface. If only wiped with a paper towel or rinsed with water, this film won’t be fully removed and may cook onto the surface the next time—resulting in stains.

Non-stick pans should not be cleaned with scouring powders or abrasive pads. A nylon sponge is ideal for both the interior and exterior.

Some parts are dishwasher-safe, while others are not.

Dishwasher compatibility:
Pot/frying pan: To extend product life, hand washing is recommended. If using a dishwasher, choose gentle detergents (liquid, gel, or powder). Avoid tablets or sachets. Some parts may become dulled or discolored due to corrosive detergents. This type of wear is not covered under warranty.
Ingenio handle: NO. Hand wash only with a non-abrasive sponge.
Cooking lid (excluding magnet-type knob): YES.
Detachable lid knobs (magnet-type): NO. May rust.
Storage seal lid: NO. May deform.

To prolong the life of your pan, we recommend hand washing with a non-abrasive sponge. If using a dishwasher, use mild detergents like liquid or gel.

To remove burned food stains from stainless steel cookware, place cold water in the utensil and bring the water to a boil. Allow the water to cool before washing. A good cleaner may be used to complete the cleaning. The use of steel wool, a steel brush or scratchy cleaner on the polished surface is not recommended.

Technical support

If you have put the handle in the dishwasher or left it on a pan while cooking (on the hob or in the oven), this can affect the efficiency of the open/close mechanism.
The handle cannot be repaired and must be replaced. Please visit our accessories store.

No. You must remove the lid before placing the pan in the oven.

Handles and knobs may loosen over time due to repeated heating and cooling. If this occurs, carefully re-tighten using a suitable screwdriver. Avoid over-tightening.

• A buildup of food residue may have formed from overcooked items. Fill the pan with warm water and dish soap, leave overnight, then gently scrub with a paste of baking soda and water using a non-abrasive sponge. Recondition the surface by rubbing a small amount of cooking oil with a paper towel.

• Overheating the frying pan can cause damage and discoloration to the non-stick coating. The Thermo-Spot indicator shows when the ideal cooking temperature is reached (solid red). Lower the heat at that point to prevent overheating.

• If cleaned in a dishwasher, re-coat the interior with cooking oil after each wash to maintain non-stick performance.

• The pan may have been used on too high a heat or on an incompatible heat source, causing the base to warp.
• Also never put cold water into a hot pan or plunge hot cookware in cold water. Sudden changes of temperature may cause the metal to warp, resulting in an uneven base.

Take care when placing pans on gas hobs as the number of support legs vary and small pans in particular may need a trivet, which most gas hob manufacturers will supply with their hob or can be bought from the separately.

Excessive force (such as dropping or hitting the pan) may cause deformation. Cooking heat alone does not deform the cookware.

No. The Ingenio handle is designed exclusively for T-fal Ingenio cookware. If your pan becomes misshapen, stop using it. If you continue using it, ensure the handle fits securely—but this is at your own risk.

A seal lid is for temporary food storage only.
1. Do not use it for heating or place it in the oven.
2. Avoid storing food in it for over a day to prevent corrosion or coating damage.
3. Keep it away from open flames.
4. Do not use it while food or cookware is still hot.
5. Strongly colored foods may stain the lid (e.g., ketchup, curry, carrots).

No. T-fal non-stick cookware does not contain PFOA. This is regularly confirmed by independent laboratories such as Aromalyse, Ianesco, TüvSud, and SGS across multiple countries.

No, the non-stick coating must be applied during the initial manufacturing process.

It is very rare for the non-stick coating to wear off under normal household use. Proper use and care will allow for better performance over time. Most cases of non-stick wearing have evidence of overheating, scratching and/or abrasive cleaning.

There is confusion between PFOA and PTFE. T-fal uses PTFE, which is considered safe by health authorities in Europe and the U.S. (EFSA, FDA, ANSES). T-fal products have not used lead or cadmium for over 20 years.

No. T-fal cookware has been manufactured without cadmium or lead in its coatings and enamel for over two decades.

T-fal’s non-stick coating is made from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), an inert substance proven to be safe by health authorities in Europe and the U.S. It does not chemically react with food and is even used in medical applications such as pacemakers, joint prostheses, and kidney treatments.

The quick way to check whether your pans work on an induction hob is to do the magnet test on the pans. This is easy, if a magnet will stick to the base of the pans they will work on a commercial induction hob.

It is difficult to give a number of years, because the service life will differ depending on the conditions of usage and frequency of use. To extend its service life, you should protect it from unnecessarily high temperatures and refrain from heating a pan empty. A medium to low heat is sufficient. Do not store cooked food for a long time (one day or longer).
