But this isn’t just another sandwich. These croissants crisp up beautifully in the T-fal Easy Fry Max 5L or the Infrared Air Fryer Easy Fry 6.3 Qt Digital, and the melty cheese and savory ham combo delivers the kind of comfort kids (and grown-ups) crave. Add fresh lettuce and tomato for a balanced finish, and you’ve got a croissant breakfast sandwich that tastes homemade—because it is.

Thanks to T-fal’s easy-to-use air fryers, there’s no need to heat the oven or dirty multiple pans. Just assemble, air fry, and enjoy. This is back-to-school cooking made smarter, even for picky eaters.

Ingredients

(Servings 4)

  • croissants, sliced in half lengthwise
  • 2 tablespoons yellow or Dijon mustard
  • 4 slices of ham (cooked or deli-style; smoked optional)
  • 1 cup grated cheese, such as Emmental, cheddar, or mozzarella
  • 4 leaves of romaine or butter lettuce
  • 4 slices of fresh tomato
  • Optional: leftover roasted vegetables, turkey, or scrambled eggs

Directions

Step 1: Prep the croissants
Using a serrated knife—like our T-fal bread knife, available in T-fal knife block sets—carefully slice each croissant in half lengthwise. This helps preserve the flaky texture without crushing the pastry.

Step 2: Assemble
Spread mustard on each bottom half. Layer with 1 slice of ham and a generous handful of grated cheese. Close with the top half of the croissant.

Step 3: Air fry
Preheat your T-fal Easy Fry Max 5L or Infrared Air Fryer Easy Fry 6.3 Qt Digital to 400°F (200°C).
Place the croissants in the basket, cheese-side down if possible to keep the filling in place. Cook for 5 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and lightly crisp for the perfect crunch.

Step 4: Add freshness
Carefully remove from the air fryer. Gently open each croissant and tuck in a leaf of lettuce and a tomato slice. Close, serve warm, and enjoy.

Pro Tip: Have leftover ham or cheese in the fridge? Use it up! These croissant melts are perfect for reducing food waste and can be customized with roasted veggies, turkey, scrambled eggs -or even a sprinkle of Everything seasoning for extra flavor.

What Are Good Croissant Sandwich Fillings?

While ham and cheese are a classic combo, you can easily mix it up with sliced turkey, scrambled eggs, spinach, or leftover roasted veggies. The buttery croissant pairs well with both savory and slightly sweet ingredients, making this a great option for meal prep.
