Ingredients
For the Best Christmas Brownies
- 9 oz dark chocolate (70%), chopped
- 10 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 cup walnut halves, coarsely chopped
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- Cooking spray or parchment paper
Pro Tip: For even deeper flavor, ensure your eggs and butter are at Room Temperature before mixing.
For the Homemade Icing
- 1 large egg white
- 1¼ cups powdered sugar
- ½ tablespoon lemon juice
- Green and red food coloring
- Christmas sprinkles or sugar decorations
- 6 wooden sticks
Optional substitutions:
- Swap walnuts for pecans or hazelnuts.
- Use white chocolate chips or crushed peppermint for extra holiday flavor.
Directions
1. Melt the chocolate and butter
In a heat-safe bowl, melt the dark chocolate and butter together using a bain-marie or microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth. The Ingenio Preference saucepan is perfect for this since it transitions easily from stovetop to countertop. Coarsely chop the walnuts and set aside.
2. Preheat the oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F.
Optionally, you can bake the brownies in one of T-fal’s air fryers-such as the Easy Fry Oven Air Fryer, Multifunctional, 21 Quarts or the Infrared Air Fryer 2.0 7L-by selecting the bake function and adjusting time as needed.
3. Whisk the base ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat until the mixture becomes pale and slightly frothy. A hand mixer or stand mixer works well here.
4. Add melted chocolate mixture
Slowly pour in the melted chocolate and butter, mixing until fully incorporated and smooth.
5. Add dry ingredients and walnuts
Fold in the flour and half of the chopped walnuts. Stir just until the batter is evenly combined-don’t overmix.
6. Bake the brownies
Line a square pan (from the T-fal Ceramic Non-Stick Stackable Bakeware Set) with parchment paper or coat with cooking spray. Pour in the batter and smooth the top.
Bake for 12 minutes, or until the center is set but still moist. Let the brownies cool completely before cutting.
7. Make the icing
In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg white, powdered sugar, and lemon juice until smooth. Divide the icing into three bowls:
- Tint one bowl green
- Tint another red
- Leave the third white
Adjust consistency with extra sugar (thicker) or a drop of water (thinner) as needed.
8. Decorate the brownie pops
Once cooled, slice the brownie into 6 triangles. Insert a wooden stick at the base of each triangle to form a tree trunk.
Use the colored icings to pipe garlands, outlines, or zigzags, then finish with Christmas sugar decorations or sprinkles.
Let the icing set before serving.
Pro Tip
For perfectly clean, sharp brownie cuts, run T-fal’s Ice Force Bread Knife under warm water and wipe between each slice. It keeps the edges neat and helps the icing sit beautifully on top.
