Ingredients

  • 1 cup (6 ounces/177g) mini chocolate chips
  • ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 egg whites
  • ⅔ cup (131g) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (60g) all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • Powdered sugar for garnish

Directions

  1. Butter or spray  four 6-ounce ramekins and set aside.
  2. Melt the butter in a large bowl, then stir in the chocolate until melted. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, egg whites and sugar until light and fluffy (this can be done by hand or with the mixer).
  3. Whisk the egg mixture into the chocolate until fully combined. Stir in the flour and salt with a spatula, being careful not to overmix.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared ramekins and place in the airfryer. Air fry the molten lava cakes at 370°F for 8 minutes or until the tops have popped up and the edges of the cakes are crisp.
  5. Carefully remove the ramekins from the air fryer. Using a small metal spatula or knife, release the cakes from the sides of the ramekins. Flip the cakes onto plates and dust on some powdered sugar. Enjoy!
